About this role
We are looking for a software engineer with ML skills as the team’s first hire. We are just raising a round of preseed funding, so the exact timeline and compensation are still to be determined. Nevertheless, we are looking to shortlist some amazing people and start conversations now.

💡 As the very first hire, your salary will not be on par with the ones from more established companies, there will not be any guarantee whether you will have a job in 12 months, and you will not be given a clear to-do list to follow.

🌟The Mission
We are driven by the mission to have a huge positive impact on the planet. We believe the climate crisis is the defining problem of our era and are dedicated to helping solve it for the rest of our lives.
To solve this, we need to radically shift how we use energy for transportation (fossil-fuel vehicles → electric vehicles) and how we mass-produce energy (coal & gas plants → renewables). The key puzzle piece common to both is batteries (it’s so important here that the creators of lithium-ion batteries were awarded a Nobel Prize).
🏔️The Challenge
- To hit the energy transition, we need to sustainably ~7x the amount of batteries we have now. But at the current pace, we’ll fall short big time (reach only ~halfway).
- Battery cell manufacturing is a complex iterative process that generates fragmented, large-scale, multi-modal data, with interdependent production steps. Analyses are typically heuristics-driven instead of data-driven. This results in long and inefficient workflows to gather and analyze data and make optimizations for every production iteration.
- Consequently, a lot of battery manufacturers have and will continue to fail from not scaling up fast enough.
🔭Our Vision
- We believe this requires a fundamentally different approach - in the age of information and AI, the old-school heuristic approach to optimizing manufacturing cannot be sustained. We’re building the solution that brings a modern data-driven approach to this industry.
- We will be the go-to software partner for any battery cell manufacturer to scale up to gigafactories quickly and sustainably (both financially and environmentally)
- Product
- Data infrastructure + AI SaaS platform to optimize battery cell manufacturing. Analogies: Industry 4.0 + enterprise SaaS.
- Traction
- We have signed with 1 customer as a design partner, and are in conversations to add 2 more. The product development with customer #1 will likely kick off before the end of 2023.
